Gaillardia x grandiflora Sunset Snappy

PollinatorAward

Blanket flower

Ideal plant for a sunny spot

Neat mounds of silvery green leaves are covered in cheerful daisies like flowers right through summer. A gorgeous cottage garden plant for the front of a border or to grow in the cutting garden. Its generous flowering season means that there will always be plenty for the vase.

Where?

Happiest in full sun and well drained soil. Great for the front of a border - even in exposed gardens.

How?

Add sand or grit to the soil when planting. Remove faded flowers to encourage more and cut the plants back in spring once the new leaves are seen at the base.

Gaillardias are native to North America and are a favourite with butterflies and bees

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
