Blanket Flower

Great for late summer colour

A new series of compact Blanket Flowers producing large, daisy-like flowers in vibrant shades of peach, yellow, orange and red, some with the tips a different colour from the rest of the petal. They bloom profusely over the summer, and the hotter the weather the better they will perform.

Where?

Plant in full sun. Perfect for a container and brilliant for filling gaps in a border.

How?

Happy in any well-drained soil. Remove faded flowers to encourage more.

Gaillardias are native to N. America and are a favourite with butterflies and bees.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
