Coreopsis Calypso

PollinatorAward

Tickseed

Bright yellow flowers produced in large quantities

A hard worker that will reliably bring lots of colour to the garden through the summer. It makes an attractive clump of green and white variegated leaves, topped with masses of golden-yellow flowers, each with a dark red central ring.

Where?

Best in a sunny spot, use in a bed, border or wildlife garden where the nectar-rich flowers will attract bees and other pollinating insects.

How?

Easy to grow in a well-drained soil. Add some coarse grit to the planting hole if your soil is heavy and likely to stay wet in winter. Remove the faded blooms to extend flowering.

Coreopsis are native American woodland and prairie plants.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
