Elephant's Ears

Ideal for planting at the front of a boarder

Easy to grow and a great choice for providing year round structure in the garden. This is a lovely selection with glossy green, leathery leaves that create a lovely foil for the rich magenta-pink flowers during spring.

Where?

Best grown in sun or partial shade in a bed or mixed border where it combines beautifully with the delicate fronds of ferns. It also makes an ideal ground cover around shrubs.

How?

Grow in a moist and well-drained soil, it can also do well in dry shade. Just cut back the faded blooms after flowering in spring.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
