Astrantia Snow Star

Masterwort

Unique white flowered variety

A popular cottage garden perennial, that's a favourite with bees and butterflies too. Through the summer delicate, papery, white flowers flushed with green, are held on wiry stems above clumps of finely textured deep green leaves. The flowers are great for cutting and look as good in a vase as they do in the garden.

Where?

Best in a sunny or part shaded spot and they work well in mixed borders, blending beautifully with other perennials and ornamental grasses.

How?

Happy in fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Water well after planting. Cut back in autumn once flowering has finished for the year.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
