Aquilegia Spring Magic Blue and White

PollinatorAward

Columbine, Granny's bonnet

A beautiful addition to a cottage garden

A classic cottage garden plant this stunning variety features contrasting blue and white flowers with bright yellow stamens. Flowers stems reach up and hang delicately suspended above other border plants from mid-spring. While the plants are not hardy they readily cross-pollinate and seed resulting in new colourful flowers springing up throughout the garden for many years.

Where?

Perfect for a cottage or wildlife style garden or mixed perennial herbaceous border. Tolerant of most conditions it performs best in damp, shady conditions.

How?

Keep well watered after planting out. If self seeded plants in subsequent years are not desired remove flowers before seeds are set.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
