Leyland Cypress

Fast growing, good for hedging

A fast growing conifer which makes a great hedge or evergreen tree to screen an unsightly object. Green leaves have a refreshing pine scent.

Where?

It makes a good, tall growing specimen at the back of a border or grown as a high hedge or screen. Happy in sun or part shade and most soils.

How?

Add goodness to the soil by digging in planting compost. Water occasionally in dry spells to keep this plant looking its best. Trim to help keep the shape in late summer.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
