Thuja occidentalis Miky

White cedar 'Miki'

A delightful dwarf conifer slowly growing to form an emerald green cone up to 60cm (2ft) in height. The slightly twisted shoots are bright green with compact, fan-like sprays of aromatic foliage, reminiscent of a Japanese cypress. Perfect for the small garden, this is a plant with lots of character that will never outgrow its space.

Plant in full sun or partial shade in beds and borders. Good for rock and gravel gardens, also pots and containers.

Any well-drained fertile soil. Cover soil surface around the plant with grit or gravel to prevent soil splash and keep foliage clean. Use a loam-based compost in pots and containers. No pruning required.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
