Thuja occidentalis Can Can

White tipped foliage in spring

Glossy, deep green leaves with a fresh pineapple scent are a feature through the year on this lovely conifer. The tips of the branches are creamy white in spring as the new growth appears adding extra interest.

Compact, pyramidal growth makes this plant ideal as a hedge or screen or simply grow alone as a specimen. Happy in sun or part shade in any reasonable garden soil.

Enrich the soil with organic matter before planting and water occasionally until established. Trim lightly once a year in late summer to help keep the shape.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
