Thuja occidentalis Brabant

GardenAward

Compact form perfect for hedging

A good choice for a screen or hedge. This evergreen conifer makes a dense, pyramid shape. It has fresh yellow leaves throughout the year and is at its brightest in spring when the new growth begins.

Where?

This easy plant will make a beautiful specimen or addition to a mixed border. Happy in sun or part shade and most garden soils.

How?

Enrich the soil by adding organic matter before planting - homemade garden compost or well rotted manure is fine for this. Water occasionally in dry weather until your plant is established. In late summer trim to shape if necessary.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
