Saxifraga Arendsii-hybrid pink

saxifrage

A good plant for a dry sunny spot in the garden

This mossy saxifrage forms low mounds of neat rosettes of finely-cut, bright green leaves that remain attractive throughout the year. The mounds gradually spread to form broad mats making excellent ground cover. In spring red-stemmed buds rise above to leaves opening to golden-eyed, deep pink flowers with shining petals. The flowers are produced freely for several weeks.

Where?

Anywhere in full sun. Perfect for the rock garden, in gaps in paving, in gravel or pots and containers.

How?

Any well-drained soil in full sun. Trim back faded flowers after flowering season.

This hardy little plant originates from the Arctic tundra

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
