Rhodohypoxis Hebron Farm Cerise

Red star 'Hebron Farm Cerise'

Ideal for rockeries

Price 1 Litre Pots £3.99 Each - 3 for £10

A little gem of a plant producing a clump of spiky, softly hairy, grass-like leaves which grow from underground corms to a height of less than 15cm (6ins). From late spring through early summer, starry brilliant cerise flowers, carried on slender stalks, appear amongst the leaves, lighting up the plant for several weeks. A delightful plant that will fit into the smallest garden: one that creates an impact, but takes up little space.

Plant in full sun in rock gardens, in gravel, gaps in paving or in pots and containers.

Any well drained soil that never becomes waterlogged. Mulch soil surface with grit or gravel and remove foliage and flower stems as they die down in late summer. Mark planting positions and watch for shoots in spring.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
