This plant forms a ground hugging mat of dark green needle like leaves, smothered in tiny flowers through the spring. These are a delicate lavender-blue. This is a vigorous variety of Phlox, with excellent disease resistance.

Where?

A decorative addition to a rock garden, as edging to borders, or in a mixed container. It is at its best in full sunlight.

How?

Plant in well-drained sandy or normal soil and trim after flowering to encourage growth. Divide every three to four years in autumn to reinvigorate.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
