Erodium x variabile Bishop's Form

Stork's Bill

Long flowering

Price 1 Litre Pots £3.99 Each - 3 for £10

A charming little plant for alpine or rock gardens with leaves that look good throughout the year. In early summer it really comes into its own, as the mounds of dark green leaves are covered with pink, starry flowers that keep on blooming for months.

It loves a sunny spot but are happy with a little light shade. Plant in raised bed, container, alpine troughs or gravel garden.

Best in a well drained soil. Place some coarse grit or sand in the base of the planting hole if your soil is heavy and wet in winter. Use a good quality general purpose compost for container growing and raise the pot on 'pot feet' through the winter months to help with drainage and move to a sheltered spot.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
