GardenAward

Winter Windflower

Perfect for dappled shade

Price 1 Litre Pots £3.99 Each - 3 for £10

This Anemone is like a little jewel, emerging each spring. Its charming flowers in shades of blue, pink or white nestle in delicate, fern-like leaves.

Where?

It loves a lightly shaded spot where it can grow and flower and be left alone to naturalise, try planting around shrubs in a mixed border. It also looks great grouped in a container or growing among other spring flowering bulbs and alpines.

How?

Happy in any well drained soil. Water well after planting. Use a good quality general purpose compost for container growing.

They are native to Turkey, Syria and South Eastern parts of Europe and are very happy growing in the UK.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
