How to make a teacup succulent garden for Mother's Day

Impress your Mum this Mother's Day with a handcrafted gift that she'll love. It's simple to make with on-trend succulents and a teacup of your choice.

You'll need:

  • Teacup
  • Assorting succulents and cacti
  • Potting gravel
  • Hand trowel
  • Compost suitable for succulents
  • Gloves
  • Twine
  • Gift label

 Here's how to make it:

  1. Put a layer of gravel into the bottom of your teacup as succulents don't like too much moisture
  2. Add the compost - we've chosen a succulent specific compost that will help the plants to thrive
  3. Choose a feature plant to go into the centre of the teacup. Loosen it from the pot, being careful not to damage the roots, before transferring it to the teacup
  4. Arrange smaller succulents around your feature plant to fill up the gaps. Smaller cacti and succulents are perfect. Top up the compost around the plants and gently firm into place
  5. Top dress the teacup with a layer of gravel and dust off any excess soil with a paintbrush
  6. Cut some twine to weave through your gift label and tie this on to the handle once you've written your personalised message to Mum

There you have it - a beautiful Mother's Day gift packed full of stylish succulents that will last. If your looking for more Mother's Day ideas then take a look at our range of gifts and our special lunch menu.
