How to: Create an Easter centre piece

If you’re celebrating Easter with family or friends, why not create a homespun table decoration to form the centrepiece of the festivities? With all the flowers of spring on offer, it’s cheap and simple to make a beautiful display – something that will fill your dining room with a blast of seasonal colour. Scour your garden for pretty blooms, or buy a couple of bunches from the supermarket. You don’t need any special floristry kit to create something with wow-factor, and it’s possible to use shop-bought, value-for-money Easter decorations to embellish your display. Get children involved too – our project is perfect for little ones meaning all the family can be part of the fun.

What you'll need:

  • A plain glass vase
  • Scissors/secateurs
  • Rustic twigs
  • Spring flowers
  • Hanging Easter decorations
  • Chocolate eggs

How to make an Easter table centre:

Step 1
Half fill the vase with water, and add a few twigs. They need to be slightly taller than your flowers so cut them to length.

Step 2
Add the seasonal blooms to the vase one at a time. Cut them to length as you go, removing any excess leaves.

Step 3
Hang Easter decorations on the branches and to any sturdy flower stems. Kids will love this bit.

Step 4
Move the vase to its final location and top it up with water. Be careful not to overfill.

Step 5
Decorate around the bottom of the vase with small chocolate eggs and other Easter trappings. Nestle some among the flowers too.
