Perfect Plants For Winter Colour

The pots, window boxes and baskets that gave you so much pleasure in summer can be just as rewarding in the cooler months. Here are three low-maintenance winter-flowering beauties to provide colour for weeks.

1. Winter pansy

This little gem blooms in an array of colours – white (pictured left), pinks, purples and maroons – with generous flowers right into spring. In fact, these bloom for longer than any other bedding plant. Just deadhead them regularly to encourage more flowers.

2. Erica carnea

This lowgrowing evergreen plant flowers from December to April. There are many varieties to choose from, with pink or white blooms.

3. Cyclamen coum

The nodding heads of pink and white flowers last for months. They are wonderful partners for snowdrops and the perfect low-growing addition to the front of a container display.
