Recipe: Spiced Lamb Burger

BBQ Lamb Burger Recipe

Try this delicious spiced lamb burger with tzatziki and rocket, created by our chef David Orlowski. Perfect for BBQing and summer garden parties. 

For the burgers you'll need:

  • 800g minced lamb (15% fat content)
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper

For the tzatziki you'll need:

  • 100g Greek yoghurt
  • 40g cucumber, finely diced
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp mint, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp salt

For the garnish you'll need: 

  • 40g rocket leaves
  • 2 tomatoes, cut into 4 slices each
  • 4 hamburger buns, split in half


  1. Place all the ingredients for the burgers into a bowl and mix well. Divide the mixture into four equal balls and shape into patties. Cover and place in the fridge. Allow to rest for at least 1 hour
  2. To make the tzatziki, combine all the ingredients into a bowl and mix well. Place in the fridge until needed
  3. Cook the burgers on a pre-heated barbecue or use a hot frying pan. Cook them for about 6-7 minutes on each side, ensuring they have a nice seared crust
  4. Toast the hamburger buns and garnish with the tzatziki, tomato slices and rocket leaves and place the burgers on top before serving
