Recipe: Cocktails for Gardeners

Cocktails fit for a gardener

What’s better than sitting out on the patio with a refreshing drink in the summer? Adding a gardening twist to it…

Herby Lemonade

Pour a pint or two of your favourite lemonade into an attractive jug. Add a few springs of fresh garden mint and then drop in ice cubes that contain a borage flower – these need to be made a few days in advance. To do this, pick borage flowers and drop one flower into each ice cube slot, fill with water and then freeze.

Summer fruits daiquiri

To make two glasses of daiquiri, liquidise a fistful of strawberries, raspberries and a few blueberries. Stir in two tablespoons of granulated sugar, then add 35ml of white rum. Squeeze the juice from a lime and add this to the mixture. If it’s too sweet, add a little more lime and if it’s not sweet enough, add more sugar to taste.
