Back in 1987, three enterprising friends from Antwerp, Belgium, discovered crinkled nylon fabric after a happy accident with a loom – and Kipling was born. We adapted our unique take on nylon to create colourful and functional bags, then added our iconic monkey, putting the key element in place to create the fun, authentic brand that is now loved by more than 35 million women in 67 countries all over the world. In fact, a Kipling bag is sold every two seconds! We collaborate with some of the world’s most exciting designers, including Helena Christensen from Denmark and the UK's Peter Pilotto, to create fashion-forward accessory collections.

Meet our icon, the Kipling Monkey. Our iconic furry monkey is attached to all our bags, making sure the playful spirit of our brand shines through. Where did this idea come from? Our brand name is inspired by the author Rudyard Kipling and his much-loved classic tale, The Jungle Book. For us, this book sums up the same spirit of fun and adventure that we want to bring to our accessories, and the monkey ensures that this spirit shines through in every bag. Each bag has its own monkey, and they’re so popular that we even offer boxed collectible versions!
