Bring a splash of sunlight to your garden all year round with this tough little shrub.

Euonymus 'Emerald 'n' Gold' is particularly notable for its attractive foliage, with golden margins and green centre. It has a dense, tight branching habit, and grows up to an average height of between 50cm to 1m. Fuss free and easy to grow this variety of Spindle is a mainstay of many low maintenance planting schemes and it is easy to see why. Being evergreen it looks great all year round but comes into its own in the winter months when the warmly-coloured leaves shine out in the low sunlight. Foliage slowly spreads, without becoming invasive, making it a useful ground-cover shrub. Team it with evergreen grasses or winter bedding plants for a pleasing contrast of texture, form and colour.

A useful small shrub or wall plant that is reliable, colourful and evergreen.

Plant Care & Advice

You can get the brightest colour from this Euonymus if you expose it to full sun, but it does grow well in shady spots too. It is perfect in pots and containers, or in beds and borders, thriving in well-drained soil and is very drought tolerant once established. Great in city gardens and also grows well by the coast. Grows well in poor soils, including chalk, but for optimum growth use a general purpose fertiliser in spring. The only pruning needed is to trim back wayward shoots in mid spring if necessary.

Water plants well during their first year in the ground - plants in containers will need regular watering when the soil dries out.
