Dobbies 'Team of the Year' Community Heroes

31 January, 2017

Staff from Dobbies Southport attended the Trinity Mirror Community Heroes award ceremony, where they were presented the ‘Team of the Year’ prize for their fundraising efforts for Dobbies National Christmas Charity Partner, Teenage Cancer Trust.

Zoe Stanmore Community Champion, worked alongside Janet Eddon the Events Co-ordinator and with the help from the whole team they raised an incredible total of £16,282 from various fundraising activities. One amazing achievement included Jake Hopkins, Mike Eddon and Kyle Johnson doing a sky dive through which they managed to raise over £2,000. Other activities included the spin-a-thon, a piano recital and a concert in which Laura Mc Donagh, who has gone through treatment and who has sang with the Halle orchestra in the past, attended the store to sing to a large crowd of customers. The team from Dobbies went above and beyond and the community celebrated their efforts by nominating them for ‘Team of the Year’.

Following the ceremony, Zoe said: “I am really proud of the entire store and grateful that the community was so supportive. Our customers, friends and families were so generous and the whole experience was humbling and rewarding, knowing that we did our best to help Teenage Cancer Trust was all the reward we could ever ask for.”

All Dobbies stores held three fundraising events for its National Charity Partner over the festive season; Christmas Preview Night, Ladies Night and Santa’s Arrival. Due to Southport’s additional events, the store managed to raise the highest fundraising total for the charity. Dobbies Southport will continue to fundraise for its Local Charity Partner, Stroke Association, until an announcement in March when a new local charity partnership will begin.
