Garden centre gears up for busiest week of the year for houseplant sales

Dobbies stores across Scotland are gearing up for their busiest week of the year. In the run up to Mother’s Day the garden centre will sell 202% more houseplants than any other week of the year.

The garden centre chain’s 15 Scottish stores have been stocking up on all the Mother’s Day favourites, including roses, hydrangeas and orchids. And because Mothering Sunday falls early this year, there’s also a great choice of hyacinths and primroses.

Dobbies’ restaurants are also gearing up for a busy weekend, as they get set to serve up 35,000 Mother’s Day lunches and the same number of afternoon teas.

Steve Guy, Head of Horticulture at Dobbies said: “Mother’s Day is by far our busiest time of year for houseplants. Our team of buyers have been scouring the country for the past year to make sure mums are given beautiful, colourful and long lasting plants on their special day. And this year, because of an unseasonably warm winter and an early Mother’s Day, there’s an even wider choice of colours and varieties.”

With plenty of deals on plants, a wide range of homeware product and a fantastic lunch menu on offer, Dobbies is the perfect place to pick up a last minute gift and enjoy the afternoon. Stores are open daily from 9am-6pm.
