Summer of Events Launched at Dobbies' Urban Gardens in Edinburgh

17 July, 2015

From storytelling and wildlife workshops for the children to speed gardening and herbal remedy workshops, Dobbies is launching a series of exciting events based in the pop-up Parklets in George Street in central Edinburgh, the first in the UK.

Celebrity Gardener David Domoney (This Morning and Love Your Garden) will officially launch the programme of events, kicking off with a series of speed gardening sessions on Saturday 18th July at noon.

The two parklets, created, designed and built by Dobbies is considered to be a UK-first as the term was coined in San Francisco when the first “parklet” was established in 2010.

It’s an exciting experiment to show what can be done in a busy city centre street, and is part of the ongoing one-year trial to look at various ways in which George Street can be an even more attractive and enticing place for both residents and visitors in partnership with Essential Edinburgh and City of Edinburgh Council.

The summer events have been designed to demystify gardening, making it easy for anyone to get involved and do something fun with their outdoor space – however big or small.
