Dobbies Garden Café Coming to Dundee

23 January, 2015

A unique garden-themed cafe is opening within Tesco Extra in the Kingsway West Retail Park in Dundee.

Dobbies Garden Cafe aims to stand out from the crowd with a homely and green-filled environment for shoppers to relax and refuel.

Many locals will already have visited the busy Dobbies Garden Centre in Monifieth where as well as offering great value plants, gifts and horticultural expertise, its restaurant is particularly famous for the quality (and size) of its trademark scones and homemade cakes.

Looking to build on this Tayside success, the stand-alone sister cafe closer to the centre of Dundee is a brand new concept for the UK-wide specialist retailer. Now owned by Tesco, the business still has its headquarters in Scotland and celebrates its 150th anniversary later this year.

Scone-lovers can be reassured they now have a second venue to find their tasty treat - featuring on the new cafe menu, alongside delicious breakfasts, afternoon teas and warm hearty mains including spit-roast chicken, deli-burgers and stone-based pizzas,

The existing venue will be closed for refurbishment from Monday 26 January and is due to re-open in the Spring. All current employees are transferring over from their previous employer,

Anthony Hester, Head of Restaurants at Dobbies said:

“Dundee has been a winning location for Dobbies and we’re looking forward to welcoming shoppers to our brand new site. We’re planning a fantastic menu with dishes created by our chefs in an open-plan kitchen within a lush and plant-filled cafe creating a seriously relaxing vibe.”
