Dobbies confirms call with North Pole...Santa is on his way!

08 November, 2013

Dobbies Garden Centres, has confirmation from the North Pole that Santa will be arriving in spectacular fashion on Sunday 17th November at 11am for the biggest, most magical event of the year.

Sunday celebrates the grand arrival of Santa when he will take up residence in his fabulously festive grotto until Christmas Eve.  Santa’s elves have been busy preparing presents all year round, in anticipation of visits from all the good boys and girls!

This year, Dobbies Garden Centres is proud to be supporting Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK – the children’s charity that grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life threatening conditions, as it’s national charity partner.

Jayne Kirkpatrick, community champion at Dobbies Garden Centre, Edinburgh, said: “We’re so excited to welcome Santa to Dobbies and we know he’s excited to meet all the good boys and girls.  Santa’s Arrival marks the biggest event in the Dobbies calendar and we’re looking forward to welcoming hundreds of families to this must-see festive event.

“We’re delighted to be partnering with Make-A-Wish this year.  We have various fundraising initiatives happening in store to help us raise over £100,000 to help grant wishes for children fighting life-threatening conditions.”

Santa will be arriving at Dobbies stores across the UK in a variety of ways, including, horse drawn carriage, a traditional sleigh with reindeer and even a helicopter!

Customers visiting Dobbies between now and Christmas Eve will be able to make a festive wish or leave a seasonal message for a loved one, on the Dobbies wish tree.  Special wish baubles can be purchased for a minimum £1 donation and all proceeds will be donated to Make-A-Wish.

Joanne Micklewright, Head of Wishgranting at Make-A-Wish, said: “We are thrilled to work with Dobbie’s this Christmas. The funds and support we will receive from Dobbies and their customers will help us grant many more magical wishes to the brave children we serve. Whether it’s to be a Princess for the day or visit Lapland, wishes really will make a huge difference to these children’s lives.”

Customers wishing to meet Santa in his grotto on Sunday 17th November will be seen on a first come first served basis.  Bookings to see Santa in his grotto after Sunday 17th November must be made in advance, booking online at
