Dobbies Today

In June this year, Dobbies Garden Centres was bought by a holding group led by Midlothian Capital Partners and Hattington Capital. The group, comprised of highly experience retail industry investors, will invest in the long-term growth of the business from its long-standing head office in Scotland.

Andrew Bracey co-founded Midlothian Capital with the intent to buy Dobbies and has since been appointed as Chairman. On his appointment, Andrew commented: “I have long admired Dobbies. It’s one of the great retail brands in Britain with a strong heritage and has really bright prospects. I’m very enthusiastic about the business as well as its potential and therefore I’m delighted to have joined as Chairman. Dobbies is an iconic brand and we believe that Dobbies can be the market leader in the garden centre sector. It has a superior team that, with our long-term vision and capital, will grow this business across Britain.”

Mr Bracey is joined by Aidan Clegg and Neil Currie of Midlothian Capital, as well as Mr Burgess and Frederick Goltz of Hattington Capital on the Dobbies Board. In March 2017, Nicholas Marshall was appointed as CEO. Nicholas has over 30 years' experience in the Garden Centre sector, having built two garden centre chains (Country Gardens PLC and Country Homes and Gardens PLC). Find out more about Nicholas here.
