Work starts on Dobbies Shepton Mallet
Work has begun on converting the old Tesco store at Fosse Lane into a Dobbies Garden Centre. The 2,605m2 building will be converted during the work into a modern garden centre. Due to open in summer 2009 the store will create 80-100 jobs in the area.
The new garden centre will offer an extensive indoor and outdoor plant and gardening area with a diverse range of quality plants and gardening products for visitors to choose from. Expert staff will be on hand to offer advice and tips to customers and for peace of mind there will be a five year plant guarantee on all hardy plants.
Visitors will also be able to browse a specialist indoor aquatics department, a stylish range of gifts, home accessories and living ranges as well as furniture for the home and garden.
The restaurant will follow a similar format to the industry commended restaurant at Dobbies Edinburgh store. Customers will be able to choose from a delicious range of hot and cold freshly prepared food from soup, salad and paninis to scones, cheesecake and crepes. Visitors to the garden centre can relax and enjoy their refreshments in the coffee lounge, the main restaurant, the enclosed conservatory or make the most of any hot summer days in the outside seating area.
David Clark, development manager, said: “Our aim is to provide quality, range and value in an enjoyable leisure atmosphere. We are looking forward to opening Dobbies Shepton Mallet in the summer.”
The external area around the store will also be relandscaped over the coming months with a range of plants, trees, shrubs, water features and sculptures. Dobbies is also employing a special creative team who will work to create some unique pieces for the store.
David commented: “Each Dobbies is different and we are keen to create some special features for our centre in Shepton Mallet.”
Dobbies Shepton Mallet will open in summer 2009.
