Summer fun at Dobbies Aberdeen
The smell of freshly cut grass, a sizzling barbeque and new sun loungers poised and ready - yes, summer is on the way! And this year Dobbies can help make it better than ever. Whatever way you choose to spend the summer months, whether it’s keeping the kids entertained, perfecting your rose garden or simply designing a gorgeous patio area, our events programme will give you all the inspiration you need!
Dobbies is giving summer a warm welcome with our annual ‘Summer Fun Weekend’. Kicking off on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June, this year’s event is set to be our best yet. With live music in the plant area, summer drink sampling, barbeque demos and gardening tips – there’s truly something for everyone. Bring out the Nigella (or Jamie!) in you with our Best Home Baked Cake Competition. Or if you’re green-fingered, why not enter the best fuchsia, geranium or summer floral arrangement competition? For the younger ones, there’s a chance to get creative and burn off some energy, with a vegetable character competition, a treasure hunt and even giant garden games.

Rose Week
Monday 9th to Sunday 15th June
Attend horticultural demos from Dobbies experts and discover how to plant and establish roses, find out about the different varieties and selecting the rights ones, pick up tips on pruning and feeding, pest control and disease and discover how to look after your roses all year round! Patio Gardening Week
Monday 7th to Sunday 13th July
A focus on brightening up patios for the summer, enjoy horticultural demonstrations and get inspirational ideas. Colourful Containers Demo

Learn about the variety of seasonal and colourful plants available to create eye catching summer themes on your garden patio. Some like it hot whilst others prefer it cool! Learn about instant colour schemes from striking hot reds to cool whites and blues. From Tropical to Costal – discover plants that can create different themes instantly.
Sun Soakers & Shade Lovers: Plants for All Areas Demo
Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th July – 2pm
From drought resistors to shade lovers, learn about the different variety of container plants that can survive in either sunny or shady areas. Get tops tips on looking after both types of plants to ensure they look fantastic all season long – including watering and feeding tips.
Quirky Patio Gardening Ideas Demo
Sunday 13th July – 3pm
From tyres to crates, discover the vast range of reusable contemporary containers that hide in your garage! Discover Dobbies’ range of contemporary containers and pots that will draw attention to your patio. Learn about the variety of accessories to add to your patio from candles to outdoor lights – perfect for those planning their outdoor summer parties!
Children’s Teddy Bears Picnic
Saturday 26th July – 10am to 12 noon
Together with their little teddy bears, children can join Teddy for a yummy picnic, play games and take part in a children’s colouring competition. The best dressed teddy will also win a prize! Tickets £8.95 and include a children’s lunch. Pre-booking is essential.
