17th May 2007

It was announced today that Dobbies Garden World in Perth has won the Scottish round of the Ruxley Rose Plant Area Competition.

It was announced today that Dobbies Garden World in Perth has won the Scottish round of the Ruxley Rose Plant Area Competition.

An annual competition organised by the Garden Centre Association (GCA), Dobbies Perth beat nine other Scottish Garden Centres to take the converted award.

Two other Dobbies Garden Centres were also placed in the top nine in Scotland.

This year’s Ruxley Rose Competition aims to find the best outdoor plant area in a UK Garden Centre.  As regional winner, Dobbies Garden World in Perth will now go on to the national stage of the competition and the overall winner will receive a trophy in January 2008 at the GCA annual conference.

Garden Centres were judged on the quality, range and presentation of plants and products, as well as the overall layout of the plant area.  Other key points considered were labeling and promotions.  Staff were also judged on their standards of customer care and knowledge.

At Dobbies Garden World in Perth the judge was particularly impressed with the enthusiasm, horticultural knowledge and pride that the horticultural team took in their outdoor plant area.  The judge also took time to praise the team for the quality of their plants.

Pauline Mcaskill, General Manager at Dobbies in Perth, comments:  “At Dobbies in Perth we strive constantly to provide the highest quality plants combined with excellent customer service from an expert team.

“We believe at Dobbies we have one of the largest ranges of quality plants available in Scotland and we are delighted to see this officially recognised by competition judges.”
