Butterfly & Insect World at Dobbies Garden World, Edinburgh
With a tropical rainforest paradise housing exotic butterflies, moths, reptiles, fish, giant spiders, scorpions and other creepy crawly delights – it really is a jungle in there!
See free flying exotic butterflies in a large outdoor rainforest, iguanas roaming free in jungle flora, giant Koi Karp and other creatures of the deep. Even marvel at butterflies just starting to emerge from chrysalises.
Have close encounters of the crawly kind in the ‘Bugs and Beasties’ exhibition which includes poisonous arrow frogs, jumping stick grasshoppers, over 30 tarantulas, amazing leaf-cutter ants and a unique Scottish Honey Bee display.
Visitors can also face their fears in the Reptile Room and meet giant pythons and other snakes, lizards and chameleons.
In the Nocturnal Zone, you can find a variety of bugs and beasties going about their night time activities! Here you will find the leaf-cutter ants’ nest, glow-in-the-dark scorpions and more.
Visitors can also drop in on twice daily “Meet the Beasties” handling sessions, see weekly snake feeding and enjoy regular children’s events.
