Proposed Dobbies Garden World

York
Plans to build a new multi-million pound environmentally-friendly Dobbies Garden World development at York Business Park, which is set to create 120 new jobs, have been formally submitted with backing from the local community. The garden centre is proposed on an 8 acre site off the outer ring road (A1237) in the Nether Poppleton area.
The £8 million proposed development, received support from the local community following a public consultation held in York in September this year which engaged local residents and businesses. A report demonstrating this support has been sent to the council as part of the application.
Stuart Wright, director of property at Dobbies, said: “We have spent considerable time shaping these plans to make sure they are absolutely right for this important site in York and we are pleased to have finally submitted our application for what we believe will be a fantastic new destination for the region.” Wright continued: “We received a fantastic response about our proposals from local people with many telling us that they are excited about the prospect of a new garden centre on their doorstep as well as access to new jobs.”
