Coming from Central America, Ocote is a naturally fast growing wood. Gardeco Ocote is bought fairly from remote communities in the Guatemala highlands. The name Ocote comes from the Mayan word for “torch” and was used buy the traditional Mayan people to light fires for cooking and heating purposes.

It has a very high resin content which produces a sweet smelling fragrance when burning. The bundle is from 100% natural material and has no artificial chemicals added.

How to Use

The Ocote fire sticks can be used on their own or in a mixture with balled newspaper. Simply place some of the sticks and light with a match or lighter. Once these start to flame add logs or charcoal to build fire.
