Lava stones are pumice formed by the froth of molten rocks in volcanoes. It is lightweight with excellent insulation properties and generally the lighter the weight the better the quality.

The lava rocks are used in the bottom of clay chimeneas to stop the hottest part of the flame touching the clay. This helps prevent thermal shock and therefore cracking. One 4ltr bag is enough for any chimenea and can be used time and time again.

The lava stones are easy to use and do not burn. Simply place in your chimenea ensuring the bottom is covered and build the fire on top of this.
